ABOUT ME
I have vivid memories of my childhood, cradled in the arms of my grandfather under the blazing Pakistani sun, with my cousins sprawled in the grass beside us, intently waiting for my grandfather to command our attention. I can smell the tobacco on his shirt, and I can feel his chest rumble as he clears his throat to begin telling us a story. He told tales of his youth, of the partition, of Bangladesh’s independence, of Djinns and fairies, of the Mughals, anything and everything.
Storytelling is in my blood, embedded within me. My preferred medium of storytelling is primarily photography and film. The various facets of film allow me to play with different elements of narration. As a production assistant and amateur screenwriter I know how to build a story, as an editor I am capable of organizing a story, and as a colorist I can bring the story to life.
My formal education in film from the University of Texas at Austin has given me many opportunities to fine tune my skills, and my lived experiences serve as inspiration for my pursuits. Living in Pakistan, the United Kingdom, and finally America has given me the chance to consume media and work with creatives from all over the world; my personal style of story telling is constantly evolving. I am able to understand many different kinds of audiences and know what would cater to their needs, but more importantly I am willing to step back and learn new things.
I have had many humbling experiences when it comes to my creative background. It was very important for me to leave my ego behind a long time ago. I am a flexible addition to any team or individual I work with because of my ability to quickly adapt to new environments. I look forward to learning new things every day and am itching for the opportunity to absorb even more.
